Rae's Coastal Cafe is a local favorite located in a West Augusta neighborhood. A casual family-friendly full-service restaurant, the decor is a little tired but the wall of windows on the back overlooking the outdoor dining area and Rae's Creek and the woods usually makes up for it. The food is usually very good and features Southern favorites, including seafood.
This place is amazing! We came for Sunday lunch, I ordered the dolphin sandwich it was perfect! Jeremy was our server couldn't ask for better service!! Ask for Jeremy he was very helpful!
Great place to eat. A little hard to find for first timers but no problem if you use GPS. The best crab cakes this side of Maryland.
A great hidden little gem in Augusta for sure. Waiter had great humor and knew the menu well. Ordered the jerk chicken that comes with black beans, rice and their signature salad (lettuce was dead). The salad was shot and even telling the waiter he just seemed to ignore it.. I didn't let it ruin the meal with my son and really it wasn't a deal breaker.. But it did cost Rae's a star for attention to detail and customer service.
Caribbean food is known to be spicy. Many people shy away for this reason. The food at Rae's hits the balance of heat and flavor. The heat takes a back seat to the flavor. It's there, but not all you taste. The wings are some of the best, if not the best, I've had in Augusta. And the staff are friendly. We'll definitely be returning!
