My experience was poor and I believe that more training may be needed regarding the return policy of your store. I purchased a dress and jacket and decided I wanted to return it. However, I thought I lost the receipt. I came in on a Saturday and one of the sales clerks told me they could not accept the return. She did not offer me any recourse. She just would not consider a return. So I left the store feeling like I was "stuck" with a dress I did not want. I decided to call the corporate office and they were surprised. They gave me the transaction number, told me what I purchased and how much I paid and asked if I could mind going back to your store and give all of my information to the sales clerk. They even said that I should tell the local people to call the corporate office if there was any question. I went back to the store on Sunday and was stunned when I got the same response. Even though I had all of this information and a contact name and number in the corporate office, I was told you could not accept the return. Then the sales clerk told me I should have asked for a shipping label when I called corporate. I was extremely angry. She had not even offered the corporate number to me when I came in the first time and now she is telling what I should have done. She told me there was a "disconnect" between the local store and the corporate office. If they accepted a return without my paper receipt it would look fraudulent and make the store look bad. She did finally call the corporate office and they emailed me a return label. She also gave me a small envelop to put my merchandise in to return it. I returned the dress and jacket with all of the information I had been given. I never heard rather WHBM received my items or not. It is important for you to know that I ordered 5 dresses during the month of August because I was to attend a wedding. I did not have any trouble returning ANY of the other dresses. This was my first visit to WHBM but I was so upset with my treatment that I will not be back. This may be a lack of training or you may actually think that consumers don't know that there are ways to track and verify a purchase electronically. The paper receipt a customer receives is not the only proof of a purchase. I purchased this dress with my credit card. At the very least, swiping my card should have told the sales clerk that the purchase was made at that particular store. If this is not a training issue, I can only believe that she did not want to help me, and there are too many other places to shop to have to put up with that.

I had to buy business casual clothes for the first time, and I had no idea what I was doing. I went to other department stores and not one person asked if I needed help. Frustrated, I finally made my way into WHBM, and immediately a stylist asked what I needed, what I usually like to wear, where I was going etc. She helped me try on and pick out an entire capsule wardrobe under my budget, including shoes and a blazer. Also, everything was on sale and I saved $300. Plus 10% off because I was a new customer.
I absolutely am hooked on White House Black market:)! I love that the ladies keep me up to date on current sales and trends that are coming out! Amber & Shakia are GREAT! I always have a great shopping experience.
I've been shopping at WH/BM For about 20years. I LOVE there clothes, for the quality I find the price is very reasonable. And most of the stories I have shopped at the staff is wonderful
