Today I arrived at 1 pm. I didn't get called back until 3. After waiting I was told I had the wrong documents. I asked if I could send them by mail because I drove 2 hours to get there. I asked how long it would take to get them back and was told very rudely by the employee that they weren't a mail courier and had nothing to do with the US mail service. Really??
First experience was crazy. Crowded to Max. I came with my stroller of my 9 month old. I say sat a closed window to fit me and my stroller. After sitting there 45 minutes another officer tells me to move with no where to sit. Scattered numbers were being called and I suggest they have all windows open and someone to at least handle minor questions and concerns I mean it would help clear the seats, take care of everybody and those who need to report back to work or other things to do can leave. No such thing as a quick in and out or a quick application process. Put those officer to work, if someone coming in to complete a replace card form or new, give me my application now that way when you call me you can take care of me instead of calling my number, then giving me my application to sit and wait till I'm called again. Chaotic and frustrating.
It's clear one of the clerks here doesn't know how to read forms. Myself and our bank (Wells Fargo) are more knowledgeable on setting up representative bank accounts. It is clear one or more of the clerks does not pay attention to detail and puts the client at fault...when you do things even by the book. Not very satisfied with my experience. In the end I got what I needed, AFTER I pointed out the details to this person.
Mr. Brown from the Augusta office of Social Security provided clear explanations of benefits and went beyond his duties, in my view, to answer my questions and provide factual information of which I was mistaken or unaware. I thank Mr. Brown for his time and interest in my claim by initiating contact with me. I cannot expect better treatment and service from Mr. Brown, a clearly knowledgeable and dedicated public servant.
I expected a painfully long wait and short-tempered personnel, like at the DMV. Instead, it was quick and polite. I got the same result when I called back by phone with a question.
